Fungsi May dan Might

May dan might bisa digunakan untuk meminta ijin. Menyatakan sesuatu yang kemungkinan akan terjadi.

May – used in asking permission

May I sit here?

May I go home early?

May we come to your house?

May I borrow your pencil?

May I come in?

May I see you for a moment?

May they go with us?

May she call you?

May – used in expressing Possibility

Susi may come late. She woke up late.

Susan may be absent today. She is sick.

The dog may be hungry. The owner did not feed him.

It may rain this afternoon. It is cloudy.

They may fail the test. They did not study seriously.

Larry may loose his job. He made too many mistakes.

Might – used in expressing Possibility

This might be the most difficult decision she would ever make.

You might think that I love him.

We might have done something to help you.

We might pay a premium to support a family farm.

It was possible that someone might harm her.

Show me where we might eat.

They might not look alike

Where and why are you going, when you might remain here?

I might go to school now, I think it's much better

She's afraid you might think that she does not like you.
